Imagine walking into a gym and seeing a player like Lebron James dunking way above the rim. It will be a cool thing to see and you will be in shock. Now imagine players like him all over the court and this is just a college team. This will probably blow your mind away because of the skill level you are used to. You like other NBA fans, know how good a player can be and know who are the stars and who aren’t. Now imagine that everyone today that is a superstar is just an ordinary player on a college team.
Now, stop and think. Don’t question on what you know and what you think cannot happen. In the future, this is a possibility. With more people on the face of this earth every year and with more technology, and advancement, players are getting better and better. If there were 1000 top college players to choose from, it would be difficult to make a solid choice without any further knowledge. However, what if there were 3000 players to choose from? In order to make an even sound choice, more research is needed. Coaches and scouts will survey these players and pick the best ones that are available. Like they always say, with more selection, there comes better selection. It seems as if almost every kid wants to become a professional basketball player. We cannot deny this because we will be denying everything we love about the sport.
When Michael Jordan was playing, he was one of a few players in the league who could dunk from the free throw line. When we look at this now, we still say, how did he jump so high? Then when we look at the players today, we can see players on every few teams that can dunk from that distance. Strength, skill and speed are improving because new knowledge is being built over past mistakes. When a player makes a mistake, it is a chance for others to see why they made that mistake and what can be done about it.
Now that the competition is tough, it will be almost impossible to make the NBA in lets say, the year 3000. Not only will there be space crafts in the city, there will be evolved and better NBA players. This sport is only growing and will continue to get better.
