The Denver Nuggets now know that Allen Iverson is not the answer for short term. Iverson’s presence in the team did not stop the Nuggets from losing in the first round of the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season.
However, this time round the Nuggets were not upset about it.
The Nuggets are certain that with Iverson in the team they would soon have a reason to celebrate in the postseason which would last longer than five games.
Forward Eduardo Najera feels that the Nuggets have great players and as long as the team stays together, they will get past the first round. He is hoping that there will be no trades in the new season and hopefully his team would perform better in the regular season. In fact, Najera is confident that next year would be a much better for the Nuggets.
The strangest part is that the Spurs too think the same. Robert Horry thinks that next year the Nuggets would be either 1, 2 or 3 seeds.
In order to achieve this seeding, the Nuggets will have to add an outside shooter to open up lanes for Carmelo Anthony and Iverson.
Iverson is excited about the next season and thinks that the team has a lot of talent.
This year the Nuggets had to contend with injuries, trades and suspensions. Anthony and J R Smith were suspended for fighting, Iverson was acquired from Philadelphia in December 2006 for two first round draft picks and Earl Boykins and Julius Hodge were sent to Milwaukee for Steve Blake.
